Kharkosia is a continent to the northwest, it was previously known as Krotoa in bygone eras.
Krotoa
According to several texts dating back to the Second Age, Old Krotoa (as it is colloquially known today) was a legendary continent blessed with vivid jungles, and dotted with several city-states which existed in a form of complete harmony alongside some of the most powerful cities of the late Dwarven Empire. Records tell of the complete peace of the region resulting in the casting aside of its arms due to centuries of peace and prosperity.
Several historians of our age have inferred that it is possible this land fell to some form of decadence.
The Rise of Kharko
Around approximately 3000 2A it is assumed that the legendary elf Kharko arrived with his tribe, planting the seeds of the calamity which ended the era.
In Kharnaten
Evidence points toward the Calamity never truly ending in Kharkosia - instead it merely intensified. This came to a head when in around 51 3A, the angelic judge Gurgion descended to Kharkosia to banish the entire continent to Kharnaten for 1,000 years.
Today
Today, clear evidence of Old Krotoa still persists in the continent in the form of various ruins. Much of the wilderness has been subsequently corrupted by being bathed in the dark magics of Kharnaten for a millennia, as the land is now a twisted form of its once glorious past.
